Dashboard Cams Are Useful
I saw a television programme not long back showing how useful dashboard cameras actually are.
I never thought of them before now and thought people were mad to own one.
Most cars in Russia have dashboard cameras to protect against insurance fraud and police corruption etc.
They could also be useful as evidence in court for all sorts of things including any accidents you become involved in.
I know nothing about dashboard cams so I would like to hear of other peoples experiences.
I would also like members to recommend me a suitable dashcam for my own car.

My other car is a Reliant Robin and you can say what you like!

Dashboard cameras are very handy. I have one that I use most of the time but you will need to get a dual cigarette lighter socket from the pound shops if you need to use the sat nav as well. The cigarette lighter I got from the pound shop has a USB thing on too which also comes in handy.
My dashboard cam came without an SD card but I had a spare 4gb one which works really well. The cam I have seems to work by taking a few minutes of video then starting again because when I plug it in my PC it shows loads of clips but they can be made continuous. Once the 4GB SD card is full it just starts recording over the old videos so make sure you take off any clips that you need there and then or you will lose them for good.
The cam says it has infra red LED lights for improved nigh time recording but I found they are as much use as a chocolate fireguard. It depends on the street lighting. In dark streets its pretty much useless but in the daytime it is spot on. If anyone knows a better model for low light conditions I would like to know.
I bough mine for £15.00 on ebay and here is what it looks like.
Here is a link to an ebay sale for the same model.

Re: Dashboard Cams Are Useful
I got one of them above when I saw the post.
I can confirm they work great and Ross is correct as in the dark they are not as good but this model is all I need right now.
I had a spare 4gb sd card which works like a charm.
Had a test drive and came back and transferred the footage to the PC.
I am happy at the results and I use the dash cam every day now.
Its nice to know you have these extra set of eyes.
I recommend them now.
Mine was only £15.00 including postage as well.
Excellent value.

I have a dash cam in my car.
I am thinking about putting one in the back window too.
Its amazing what you see and if you get in trouble on the road it can help you out in an insurance claim.
